In a nutshell: soon-to-be Oberlin grad, archaeology wonk, sexual health educator, and aspiring nurse. Generally found volunteering at an abortion clinic, meditating, ranting about gender, or trying to finish my thesis. Feel free to ask me anything.

I've used this Tumblr for a few things in the past, but right now it's a trove of interesting things, with varying degrees of quality and original content. I'm also responsible for Transcending Anatomy.

Tonight, Personhood and Issue 2 were soundly defeated. →

And that’s a good thing. It really is. If those measures had passed, we as a nation would have taken a major step back toward the world of the 1920s. In 2011, that kind of regression is flatly not acceptable.

But the thing we have to remember tonight is that this is not progress. We did not move forward tonight. Each time we’re forced to defend against this kind of attempt to send the nation back in time, we fall a little further behind where we should be. Each time, the glow of our torch of truth and justice gets just a little bit dimmer.

Progress is moving forward. Progress is providing more rights for more people, and a living wage for all. Progress is finding ways to make sure that everyone has access to health care, vocational training, and as much education as they can handle.

Progress is the thing you didn’t see tonight.
