Advice to Sylvia Plath, from her mother.
I love misattributions. This is actually from Desiderata, a poem by Max Ehrmann. As far as I can tell, there’s no connection between Ehrmann and the Plaths: the poem was written in 1927, when Aurelia Plath was only 21 and Sylvia had not yet been born, and it didn’t become widely known until the 1960s, after Sylvia Plath’s death, so it’s overwhelmingly likely that she never read or heard these words.
// I guess this advice didn’t work out for her in the end, but still…
